Uncle Sam should probably start patronizing Telugu to avoid getting stymied in a few years from now.
The years of struggle, bloodshed and sacrifice final led to tectonic divides which are still at large and volatile. I am at loss of senses when asked to describe the combinations that presumably saw to the ends, the struggle of Laxmibhai. The words and the situation contradict each other.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi + Jawahar Lal Nehru + Mount Batten + B.R.Ambedkar+ M.A.Jinnah+ Nippon rising = Independence?
“The great Indian novel” by Shashi Tharoor, India’s unsuccessful answer to the UN General Secretary Job is quite an interesting read. The similes that he draws between the various historical and mythological personalities really are eye-openers in many cases. The astounding failures and confusions of the various characters are sketched in terms of myths to avoid “ Indian Fatwas”. The role played by Vidur and his historical equal always have an impact on us today. The greater good is always forgotten in front of strongly peevish and emotional personalities. Both the Vidurs were relegated to lower posts, myth owing to birth and history in service to Gandhi.
The novel was path breaking in every sense and written meticulously.
Tharoor is the Lok Sabha candidate for Congress party now.
More than 600 princely states were allowed the option of choosing their future: stay independent or join India or Pakistan. If not for Sardar Vallabhai Patel, India would have had remained spotted with various rogue states failing to accede to the authority of India. Jawahar Lal Nehru was not only the fore runner of NAM but he was rightly matched with his mythical parallel by Tharoor. Patel was always asked to play a second fiddle for Nehru. I don’t remember if Tharoor actually saw the metaphor for VidurNeethi in the code of Indian Civil Service exams. Both hold the key for the maze an amazing country, society and mind wiggle through.
The most important action of Patel was how he threatened the Nizam of Hyderabad with military to accede to India. (Nehru was away and unaware of this move. Think otherwise!)
The second was Kashmir. (This once, the problem was Nehru’s presence).
Today’s picture of India is similar to the India fresh out of British Hands. Hanging by threads, the secessionism is weakening the once new stitches. The threads seem to be worn out.
The following link relates to the separatists movements of India:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separatist_movements_of_India
These are the anti-Patels, the hypocrites working against the great deeds of the Bismarck of India, the Iron man, Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
Most of these separatists are religious or linguistic in motives financed by the largely incapable and corrupt people who hide behind the exteremly powerful and easily deceivable title, Politicians.
The state of Tamil Nadu is running amok with linguistic fanaticism. Although this has largely helped in preserving the beautiful language, Tamil unlike the mixture of Hindi and Urdu in Telugu, Hindi in Kannada yet this has instilled large amounts of hatred towards the other languages which is practical but not an ideal situation for co-existence. The Zeal of the protagonists for Tamil is worthy of appreciation.
But it is always true that the zeal, caring and emotions get carried away with passion and fervor and incarnates as fanaticism, possessiveness and insecure feeling. The first generation politicians were really working for Tamil. The present propaganda for Tamil can easily be termed as the British Politics with very few real protagonists and others being money launderers.
“Unity in Diversity”: Its true: Bal Thackeray accepting Karunanidhi as his forerunner. This Unity in separatists’ tendencies needs to be lauded honored and erected as stone inscription near the Ashoka Pillar and must be a model lesson in secondary grade text books before the famous Casablanca moral.
The role played by the hostile neighborhood is huge when it comes to India.
The story of Kashmir does not need my mention. It has the global attention. What is little known is the story behind Panun Kashmir. It is the result of the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri pundits by the Pakistani militants. It is a story of religious fanaticism. The effects are less felt because the victims are Hindus and they are in India. With the Indian government holding on article 370, nothing is going to be really concrete on the solution for the real problem.
China is playing a pivotal role of agitating the north eastern state, all of which have every reason to get stirred owing to the grand negligence of the Indian government. China has long been waiting to cut off the chicken’s throat.
The role of Bangladesh is glaring though not direct. The refugee influx in to Assam is so high that 30 % of Assam’s population is Muslims and Bangladesh intelligence is entrusted with the job of radicalizing the muslim population in there. Ved Marwah, an ex- IPS says that anti India feeling is higher in Dhaka than in Islamabad. The Brihot Bangladesh or Bangistan is another utopian Islamic state that tentatively restricts to the joining only the north eastern Indian states to Bangladesh.
Adding to the woes is the separatist tendency of Gorkhas for Gorkhaland. You know what the craziest thing is? The Gorkhas are raising a hue and cry for a separate Gorkha state within India, but it is not really long when some Nepali’s comment in Youtube gets a political overtone leading to another minnow threatening the Indian republic to succumb to its highly preposterous command.
The separatists tendency are running amok with just political aspirations and its high time the Indian Legislature comes to the foreground to frame something like Prevention and Arrest of Separatist Tendencies (PAST). This does not stop here with the framework but needs the harmonious execution and meticulous participation of every single true Indian to complete the picture that the frame carries.
